This is a relaxed class where you can begin to explore, practice, and play with the foundational elements of the dance. $13/class. Milonguero Tango Level II at 2925 Rufina Street
Wednesdays: 7:30-8:30pm
Instructor: Liz Haight
This is an ongoing weekly class for those who have either taken some of my level I classes and feel really comfortable with the basics or for those who have already had previous tango experience. This is a popular class, where we work on intermediate level "milonguero" elements. Our main aim is to provide you with fun material that is practical, i.e. "milonga-friendly", as well as work on technique that is both functional and beautiful. There is special attention to the basics - quality of connection, the embrace, the walk, lightness and response for the women, groundedness and balance for everyone. This is a great place for you to explore your own creativity and musicality in the dance. $13/class or you can use Luren's class card if you are one of her students. I also recommend that you call me if you are coming for the first time (982-5833).

A Tango festival "By Dancers; For Dancers" features non-stop parties for all tango dancers who love the social style of tango popular in the milongas of Buenos Aires: close, subtle & romantic. The milongas will feature some of the top DJs in the country. The teachers are known as community builders and entertainers. Attendance will be around 450-500, so Buenos Aires style floorcraft will be essential. The main venue will be the Albuquerque Hilton, w/ other venues for an outdoor milonga & Friday night.

Cultivating & Deepening Connection:
This class focuses on the “how-to” to
creating a light yet deep, responsive, consistent, and alive connection with your partner.
We’ll be working with both physical and energetic components. This is an experiential
class and we’re hoping that everyone will leave it having felt a deeper or new quality of
connection that can be cultivated and sustained throughout their dance in the future.
Classes are open to “all levels”. These classes will have staggered levels of instruction from simple
elements to more complex according to ability. We ask that beginners come with a partner so that all
dancers can explore elements and ideas at their level (for help with this call Heather).

About Liz & Masami: Liz has been teaching dance for the past twelve years in Santa Fe, NM and has taught at four of the Denver Tango Festivals with Ricardo Vidort and her partner, Masami Hirokawa. She has studied all forms of tango but her love lies in the on-body, “apilado” or “milonguero-style” tango - the tango of the Golden Age and the tango of the crowded dance fl oors of Buenos Aires. In this style, she has studied extensively with Alicia Pons, Ricardo Vidort, Susana Miller, Maria Plazaola, & Osvaldo y Coca Cartery. Liz’s passion for tango, combined with her love of people create a unique method of teaching, emphasizing dance as a form of communication, creativity, and the joy of self expression. Masami Hirokawa, her partner, will be assisting her in all the classes.
